Reproductive Rights

Alexia Gertz, Esq.

Alexia graduated from Nova Southeastern University Law School in 1996 and began working as an Assistant State Attorney in Broward County, Florida, where she tried numerous jury trials and was promoted to a supervisor in the felony trial unit. As an Assistant State Attorney, she was responsible for trying high profile cases and serious felony cases such as 2nd degree murder, armed robbery, and DUI manslaughter. Upon leaving the State Attorney’s office in 2010, Alexia turned the focus of her practice to third party reproductive law.

Alexia first discovered her passion for the field of third party reproductive law while helping a friend who was struggling with fertility issues and eventually turned to egg donation and surrogacy. Alexia’s practice focuses primarily on third party reproductive law where she assists clients in all legal aspects of surrogacy, egg donation, embryo donation, sperm donation, as well as adoptions. Alexia has extensive experience handling surrogacy and egg donor matters, involving every possible genetic arrangement. She believes a major component of a successful fertility journey is a strong legal contract outlining the legal rights of all parties so everyone is clear as to what is expected of them. Whether working with intended parents, surrogates, sperm donors, or egg donors, Alexia’s goal is to ensure all aspects of the legal contract are in order prior to the start of the journey. Alexia recognizes it is an extremely emotional journey for her clients and is particularly sensitive to their needs and responsive to their questions and concerns.

In addition to practicing in the area of third party reproductive rights, Alexia was appointed as a special magistrate for the cities of Pembroke Pines, Tamarac, and Oakland Park and is regularly appointed by the Circuit Court as a Guardian Ad Litem.
